By these various minor changes two stations were gotten rid of in the village of Hempstead, one station in the village of Jamaica, and one station in the village of Flushing. The line was severely damaged in a flood in 1936. Assistance was speedily secured and the young man was brought to the Pottsville Hospital without delay, where it was found that the right leg had been severed near the hip and the left leg near the knee.
